Our vision
To create tables where Congolese culture is experienced, shared, and celebrated throughout Kalamazoo and wherever Mommy P’s food gathers people.

Mommy P’s Kitchen began in 2024 by Executive Chef Patience Shakwanda, right in her own kitchen, a small dream with big flavors.
She wanted to share the rich, authentic tastes of Congolese food that remind her of home: the aroma of marinated meats, the freshness of herbs, and the warmth that comes with every shared meal.
What started as cooking for family and friends quickly grew into something bigger. People fell in love with bold, vibrant flavors, and Mommy P’s Kitchen was born.
